Antony Tudor Centennial Event Summary
The Antony Tudor Ballet Trust, in honor of the late choreographer's 100th birthday, proudly presented
"The Antony Tudor Centennial Celebration" jointly with The Juilliard School at Lincoln Center on March
29 & 30, 2008.
The weekend brought together generations of dancers, writers and others who were touched by the life of Tudor.
The event was highlighted by teaching workshops that reconstructed his class combinations and choreography. Panel
discussions featuring dancers, writers and musicians offering commentary on his life and work were attended by
over 250 guests and participants.
In addition to studio workshops, informal performances of Little Improvisations, Continuo, Undertow and Judgment of Paris were performed by the JKO School
at American Ballet Theatre, ABT II and New York Theatre Ballet respectively.
The weekend also saw a performance of Dark Elegies as part of
the Juilliard Spring Concert '08.The event was an exciting success, invigorating those who have been charged with
preserving Tudor's legacy to the dance community. A forthcoming book and DVD commemorating the event is available
for pre-order here. The Antony Tudor Centennial commemorative book and DVD will include historical photos, event
photos, and remembrances of Tudor by both event attendees and others unable to attend the celebration weekend.
Proceeds from the sale of these items will fund a Dance Scholarship at The Juilliard School in Antony Tudor's name.
